Later on in this novel, a character named Tengo is introduced. His manager Komatsu asks him to write a manuscript to be entered in a literary contest. Komatsu wants to submit the novel to an agency and make the author, Tengo, famous. Tengo wanting to rewrite someone else's work, tries to find that author. Only then will he agree to submit his works into the contest. Tengo searches to find the original author to ask for permission to rewrite the works. He finds the author whose name is Fuka-Eri. She tells Tengo that he can do whatever he wants to the manuscript.
