Man, I knew this would happen. So we've decided to change our choice of books. The modern book that we will be reading will still be 1Q84, Haruki Murami. I've personally been wanting to read this book for a while, because I am a fan of Haruki Murami. I am very excited to read it! :D The book that we will be reading from the 20th century will be The Lathe of Heaven, Ursula Le Guin. It seems like an interesting book, and hopefully it will keep me on the edge of my seat! We have yet to still find copies of these books.

1) Are dystopian novels written to make a point about reality?
2) Are there any famous dystopian movies from the 20th century?
3) Are we allowed to watch a dystopian movie?

  1. Yes, by all means... find a film or two that explores dystopian themes! That might be a key to the appeal of dystopia. I think your first question is an excellent step in your studies about the appeal of dystopia - bring it up in your group discussion.

Again, continue to reflect - more explicitly - on your learning around dystopia... tell me more!
